It was a night of recognition and firsts at the 2019 Oscars. While some stars racked up on awards, others earned praised for their stunning red carpet choices and landed a spot on the best dressed list. However, there were a few celebrities simply who failed to impress and ended up on the worst dressed list.

Regina King had a lot to celebrate on Sunday night. Not only did she win the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her role in “If Beale Street Could Talk,” but she did so in an angelic white Oscar de la Renta gown.

King won her very first Oscar and thanked director Barry Jenkins and James Baldwin, who wrote the book. “To be standing here, representing one of the greatest artists of our time, James Baldwin, it’s a little surreal,” she said during her acceptance speech.

“James Baldwin birthed this baby, Barry you nurtured her, you surrounded her with so much love and support and so it’s appropriate for me to be standing here because I’m an example of when support and love is poured into someone.”

Elsewhere on the Academy Awards red carpet, Lady Gaga appeared to put a spin on the whole little black dress idea. The singer wore a strapless Alexander McQueen gown that featured exaggerated hips.

Gaga, who picked up the Academy Award for best original song for her contribution to “Shallow” from “A Star is Born,” paired her look with elbow-length gloves and a vintage 128.54-carat Tiffany & Co diamond, once worn by Audrey Hepburn.

While Emma Stone was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in “The Favourite,” she also earned a spot on the Oscars worst dressed list. Her copper textured Louis Vuitton column dress, which featured exaggerated shoulders, was not elegant enough for the prestigious award show.

If this was the 2016 Met Gala red carpet, the gown would have fit perfectly with the Manus x Machina theme but it wasn’t, so this look fell flat.

Joining her co-star on the worst dressed list was Rachel Weisz, who wore a two-piece Givenchy couture gown that featured a shiny latex top and detailed embroidery. The actress was also nominated for best supporting actress in “The Favourite.”
