KEY POINTS

  • Buddy Hield's reaction to Twitter post spurs a Pacers-Lakers trade anew
  • A Rob Pelinka lookalike sparks murmurs that the Lakers may be on the move
  • The Lakers remain undermanned with the roster hardly giving main stars a needed help

Buddy Hield has been frequently linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, and things will get a bit spicier in the coming days.

That is if the posted photo on Twitter can be verified as actually being Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.

A post from a Twitter user with the handle @SportEnthus562 caught the attention of several people, including Hield himself.

The caption of the post read: "Rob Pelinka and Jesse Buss are on my flight to Indiana. The Lakers aren't playing in Indiana. But [is a] Buddy Hield trade coming?"

While it could not be verified if the one in the photo was Pelinka, the response of the Pacers guard made it a big deal.

Hield responded with a cryptic tweet, fueling speculations that a trade could be in the works between the Lakers and the Pacers.

Hence, it comes as no surprise that some are speculating that Hield could be looking forward to a move out of Indiana.

He along with Myles Turner has been long mentioned in trade rumors that would involve Russell Westbrook and their future first-round picks.

It is no secret that the Lakers need help as they hold a 3-10 win-loss record and the injuries to key players such as LeBron James are not helping their cause.

Curiously, Westbrook has been performing well for the Lakers despite getting a new role of coming off the bench.

A trade would also make sense since Hield and Turner could be valuable additions to the roster of the franchise

Anthony Davis has been tasked to lead the Lakers in the meantime that James is allowing his left adductor to heal.

Aside from Westbrook, the only notable contributors so far include Lonnie Walker IV, Austin Reaves and Troy Brown Jr.

Beyond these names, the others on the rosters have yet to prove their worth on the team.

Adding two tested veterans in Hield and Turner could be players that head coach Darvin Ham can utilize.

For now and until the photo is authenticated, it would be best to take all these with a grain of salt.

The only fact that remains right now is that the Lakers need help, especially with James forced to the sidelines.
