The first game of Week 11 is one of the most important on the upcoming schedule. When the Green Bay Packers visit the Seattle Seahawks on “Thursday Night Football,” one team could ultimately be eliminated from playoff contention.

Green Bay is only 1.5 games out of first place, but they trail both the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears in the NFC North. The Los Angeles Rams are running away with the NFC West, leaving the Seattle Seahawks fighting for a wild-card spot.

The Packers and Seahawks are among a handful of teams that are within fewer than two games of the conference’s No.6 seed. Green Bay is one game behind Minnesota. The Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are all 1.5 games out of the postseason. Every head-to-head matchup among those teams is critical.

The betting odds favor Seattle on a short week. The Seahawks are laying 2.5 points at home, according to OddsShark. The over/under is 49.

Seattle has one of the best home-field advantages in the NFL, though they are only 1-2 at CenturyLink Field in 2018. The two defeats came at the hands of the Rams and L.A. Chargers, who are a combined 16-3 this season, and both contests were decided by one score.

The Packers are winless on the road. Their losses to the Rams and New England Patriots were expected. Losing to the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions by a combined 22 points isn’t as understandable. Green Bay is 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, per OddsShark.

Aaron Rodgers led a miraculous comeback in Week 1 for a 24-23 Green Bay win over Chicago at Lambeau Field. The Packers haven’t beaten a good team since the season opener.

Despite losing a bunch of future Hall of Famers in the offseason, Seattle’s defense is still above average, ranking ninth in points allowed and 12th in yards allowed. If you ignore their home games against Josh Allen and Brock Osweiler, Green Bay has surrendered 29.1 points per game, which would rank 29th in the league.

Behind an improved offensive line, Russell Wilson has a 110.2 passer rating this year. The Seahawks are first in rushing yards per game, and Green Bay is allowing 4.5 yards per carry.

Home teams have been incredibly successful on Thursday nights this season. The Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos are the only road teams that have been victorious, and they beat the 2-7 New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals, respectively. In their seven wins on short rest, the “Thursday Night Football” home teams have won by an average of 16.7 points per game.

Seattle is a perfect 5-0 since 2013 on Thursday night. That streak, along with the Seahawks’ playoff hopes, should stay alive in Week 11.

Prediction: Seattle over Green Bay, 27-20
