With Patrick Corbin no longer available, teams seeking starting pitching this winter may have to look for trade options instead of the free agent market.

The Phillies, who are expected to make a serious offer to slugger Manny Machado, are expected to remain active in the offseason, having been linked to free agents J.A. Happ and Dallas Keuchel.

But CBS Sports reported that San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner has drawn interest from the Phillies. There have been reports that the Giants were willing to deal the 29-year-old to rebuild after a 73-89 season, but no team has been directly linked to a trade.

Bumgarner threw 129.2 innings in 2018 with an ERA of 3.26. He didn't pitch until June 5 after suffering a fractured pinky.

The Giants in October exercised Bumgarner's contract for 2019, which will be worth $12 million.

The Phillies have a solid farm system to perhaps make a deal for the former World Series MVP. Outfielder Adam Hasele, third baseman Alec Bohm and right-hander Sixto Sanchez could each be part of a deal to land Bumgarner.

General manager Matt Klentak has already pulled the trigger on a big deal this week. The Phillies on Monday acquired All-Star shortstop Jean Segura, as well as pitchers James Pazos and Juan Nicasio from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for infield prospect J.P. Crawford and veteran slugger Carlos Santana.
