As Hurricane Dorian barreled down on Florida and moved its way up the east coast, one couple took the matter of securing their Smart car in the most unlikely of places.

In what started as a laughable bet, Patrick Eldridge ribbed his wife that indeed he could park their Smart car in the kitchen of their home, the Associated Press reported. Not only would this free up space to put items in the garage for protection, but the car would also be protected from the elements of the storm that was heading their way.

Patrick did the unthinkable and drove his car into their kitchen, where it reportedly fit snuggly and wouldn’t “blow away,” which was his main concern for the car’s safety.

According to Jessica Eldridge, her husband wanted to attempt to park the car in their kitchen to avoid cleaning out the garage ahead of the hurricane.

“I said there was no way he could. He said he could,” Jessica told the Associated Press. “So he opened the double doors and had it in. I was amazed that it could fit. He had it in with no problems.”

While Patrick may have won the bet with his wife by fitting his Smart car in the kitchen, after all, Jessica reportedly hopes it won’t stay parked in the kitchen too long.

“I’m hoping he will pull it out pretty soon once the wind dies down,” she told the news outlet. “There is room and it’s not in the way but my dogs are confused by it.”
