  • Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo wishes Cristiano Ronaldo to score 1 to 2 goals each game
  • Pirlo is impressed with Ronaldo's work ethic
  • Ronaldo has become a more efficient goal scorer since he turned 30

Newly-appointed Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo recently revealed how many goals he wishes his ace player Cristiano Ronaldo would score for the team each game this season.

Ahead of the match against Napoli on Sunday, Pirlo opened up about Ronaldo’s importance to Juventus this season. While recounting the 35-year-old’s sensational goal that sent Juve’s clash against Roma on Sept. 28 into a draw, the Old Lady boss was also specific in terms of the number of goals he hopes Ronaldo can score as they go along.

"I wish he'll score one or two goals every game,” Pirlo recently told reporters of Ronaldo in a conference ahead of Sunday's scheduled match against Napoli. “He is really important for us. In Rome we were a man down and he helped a lot until the end of the game. He is an example for everyone."

This Serie A season is no different for Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or has already scored three goals for Juventus, making him the top goal scorer of the club thus far. It didn’t take long for Pirlo to notice Ronaldo’s impeccable work ethic and hopes the 35-year-old can maintain his lethal form throughout the season.

"Ronaldo works very hard,” the coach added. “He is the first to come to training and the last to go home. He brings enthusiasm, you can notice it on the pitch as well. He started the season really well, I hope he will keep doing like this until the end of the season.”

Ronaldo, on the other hand, feels the same way for his new coach. Following the hard-fought match against Roma, the Portuguese star lauded Pirlo for building camaraderie in the team.

“It was an important point, it was a difficult game, we went twice behind, we were ten. We are at the beginning of the championship, with a new coach, with new ideas, we have to work but I see a great future for this team,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports after the match.

“With Pirlo, the team works harder and is happier,” he added. “The Italian league has so many strong teams, there is Inter, there is Milan, it is more difficult this year.”

At 35, Ronaldo appears to be aging like wine as stats from Pro Football DB recently revealed that he has become a more efficient goal scorer after turning 30 years old.

Ronaldo tallied a total of 463 goals in 718 matches before turning 30 with an average of 0.64. Since then, “CR7” has become more efficient on the pitch and scored 279 goals in 299 matches to improve his average to 0.93.
