  • Google Pixel and Nexus users complain about the Dialler app issue
  • Other users on Android 8.1 Oreo are also raising a similar issue
  • Google has not yet provided any fix for the Dialler app issue

Even smartphones with the most advanced technologies are not exempt from pestering bugs that hinder users of ideal users’ experience. Google Pixel phones are among these devices with strange bugs, and right now, there seems to be an issue with the Dialer app. Several users are currently reporting experiencing problems with the app, including not being able to bring up the number pad when making phone calls.

Several online forums and sites, including Google’s support forums and Reddit, reveal this recent issue some Google Pixel users and Nexus owners are undergoing. It seems that the most recent update rolled out by the search engine giant to the Google Phone app somehow affected the app’s ability to open up the number pad when making a phone call. While the issue seems not observed in Google Pixel 4 XL running on the most recent Google phone update, according to 9to5google, there are a few reports of the problem, particularly among older handsets.

Older versions of Android OS could play a part in the latest issue, considering that some of the complaints mention Android 8.1 Oreo. On the Google Play Store, there are also many reviews piling up underlining how widespread the issue is among these older devices. Although some product experts of the search engine giant have commented on the topic, so far, no one was able to offer a reason for the latest dialer issue on Google Pixel and Nexus devices.

But, with the amount of feedback coming in, google will certainly come up with a fix. If you are among those affected by the latest Google Pixel dialer issue, it appears that rolling back the device to its previous update seems to fix the problem for some users at least momentarily. If you want to do the same, go to the Google Play Store listing for the Google Phone app and tap, uninstall.

This will bring the Phone app of your Google Pixel device to its older version. Hopefully, Google will roll out a proper fix on this latest issue considering that it is a crucial function of a smartphone. Being unable to bring up the in-call dialer means that users could not interact with complete calls, voicemails, access banking details, and more.
