A 35-year-old psychologist in High School in Orange County, California, has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a teen boy inside of a classroom back in April 2018. The arrest was made on Sept. 24, 2019.

Kristen Lynn Boyle was reportedly involved in sexual intercourse with the boy in a La Habra High School classroom which was deemed outrageous.

A long investigation, which was carried out prior to the arrest, indicated that she misused her power to exploit the boy. The Orange County District Attorney’s office said in a statement that Boyle, who worked as a psychologist at the school, was charged with statutory rape, the New York Post reported.

Boyle has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation was ongoing.

“Mental health professionals wield a tremendous amount of influence over their patients,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.

“Psychological successfully being mavens wield a huge amount of influence over their sufferers,” Headlinez Pro reported Spitzer said.

“This betrayal of trust is even more egregious because she used her position to gain her victim’s trust and then exploited the therapist/patient relationship to prey on one of the very students she was entrusted with helping,” Spitzer remarked.

Police could not point out any other victim but have appealed to the people to come forward with more information.

Boyle is likely to face three years of jail term if convicted.

In a similar incident which was reported by The Washington Post on January 20, 2015, a 14-year-old school student in Florida was said to have been victimized by a sexual predator who was actually his teacher.

Police said that the boy wrote his phone number on the blackboard hoping for a classmate he liked to call him but his 32-year-old teacher called him instead and began flirting. The teacher, who was married, sent sexually provocative texts and videos to the student. The relationship developed and they ended up involving in sexual intercourse. The teacher pleaded guilty on Dec. 2014 to institutional sexual assault.
