Police in Maryland on Saturday charged a Baltimore County police officer with sexually assaulting at least three women.

Anthony Michael Westerman, 25, was charged with two counts of felony rape and three counts of misdemeanor assault. He is being held at a Baltimore County jail without bail.

A local Special Victims Unit was first notified of Westerman’s alleged assaults in October after the women came forward with their accusations, which date back to 2017.

One woman alleges that while she was drinking with a friend, she encountered Westerman, who offered to get them an Uber ride home. They then fell asleep in the car and awoke inside Westerman’s home. She fell asleep again before awakening to Westerman allegedly raping her. The woman reportedly tried to fight him off, with Westerman responding that “he liked when she pushed at him.”

The second accuser said Westerman allegedly raped her while she was staying in his guest room. She said she was hesitant to report the rape because of Westerman’s status as a police officer.

A third accuser said she wasn’t raped but that Westerman had forcibly kissed her multiple times at a bar.

“The allegations made in this case are reprehensible and are not representative of the values and ethics of the Baltimore County Police Department,” Baltimore County Police Chief Melissa Hyatt said in a statement. “As a result of a thorough investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau, the officer has been arrested and has been suspended without pay.”

Westerman started with the Baltimore County Police Department in 2013.
