Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota has claimed his teammate Mohamed Salah is reaching the same level as Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jota, who plays alongside Ronaldo for the Portugal national team, has said he sees similarities between the former Real Madrid star and Salah, who has been in the form of his life.

Salah has netted 15 goals and provided six assists in as many as 15 matches for Liverpool this season, across all competitions.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has rescued Manchester United on a number of occasions this season. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side is struggling and is sixth in the 2021-22 Premier League season. Ronaldo has scored nine goals in 13 competitive matches for the Old Trafford side this season, including a couple of injury-time winners.

Jota, who moved from Wolves to Liverpool last summer, has called Salah a "world-class" player.

"A great player, world class. He [Salah] is showing his technique to the world this season. He is scoring goals for fun. Great goals, individual goals, and for us this is helpful because we have someone on the field who can decide the game, and for the opponents, they know they need to be careful and we can then take the spaces that they leave because they are too worried about him," Jota told Sky Sports.

Salah, who recently became the first-ever opposition player to register a hat-trick at Old Trafford, set a record streak of scoring in 10 consecutive matches.

Jota, who has contributed with five goals and two assists for Liverpool in the underway campaign, has said he first experienced a similar feeling while playing with Ronaldo for Portugal.

"I had that first feeling when I played for the national team with Ronaldo and I think I can put him [Salah] up there to the same standards, though Ronaldo has been doing it for a very long time. When they are on the field they are dangerous and can score at any time. And for me that is very useful as I can watch and learn from them," added Jota, who has struck a great partnership with Liverpool's renowned front three of Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool's 5-0 win over Manchester United a fortnight ago was the last time Salah was on the goals chart for the Reds. He has not scored in three games now that saw Jurgen Klopp's side drop points twice: a 2-2 draw with Brighton and a 3-2 loss to West Ham in the Premier League.
