  • Marcos Rojo may be leaving Manchester United this summer, says agent
  • Rojo is staying with Estudiantes
  • Solskjaer's conversation with Nathan Ake may have been a hint that Rojo is bolting

Manchester United will be losing another player, but he is unlikely to raise any alarm.

Marcos Rojo, who is currently on loan to Argentina, will reportedly not return to Old Trafford in the summer. The 30-year-old Argentine player apparently got the message loud and clear when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to have given Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake a cryptic message following the Red Devils' thrashing of the Cherries, 5-2.

There were many interpretations of what Solskjaer said to Ake. Some thought the Red Devils manager told him: "Good Luck. You need a bit of luck from your center-backs. Just keep going." However, others believe Ake was told something different.

Some read Solskjaer's message as, “We need a left-footed center-back, keep going." A clip of the video can be viewed below.

“I couldn’t comment on what Solskjaer thinks but I think it’s obvious, I think with Rojo, probably [a move] is more than likely somewhere else," Rojo's agent, Jonathan Barnett, said to Stretty News.

Regardless, Rojo seemed to have taken the message in a different way. And considering he has not exactly made the grade with United, the plausible decision was to move on.

Despite appearing only in a single game for the Pincha in 2020, Rojo is sticking with La Plata, although there are other teams interested in getting him.

Rojo admitted that he planned to stay with Estudiantes. He said that he got a call from Boca, asking him about his plans. The 30-year-old defender revealed that it moved him at first, but he felt that it was not the right time to move to Boca.

"Roman (Juan Roman Riquelme, Boca vice-president) called me. I was really excited because he is a legend. My old man is a Boca fan. I grew up watching him. We spoke, I told him the situation and we agreed to talk further," Rojo said to Fox Sports (via Goal.com).

Rojo is still under contract until 2021 with Manchester United. The Red Devils could extend his contract if they wish, but the chance of this happening does not seem high. Though they have the option to extend his deal, there are no signs of that happening thus far.

"I don’t know yet. I’m not sure. Rojo remains under contract until June 2021 at United, with the club possessing the option to extend for a further season should they wish," Barnett said when asked if a permanent move back to Argentina is in the cards for Rojo.
