  • Manchester United, Barca target Estupinan
  • Estupinan is one of cheaper players to acquire in the summer
  • Estupinan should fit in nicely with Red Devils

Premier League teams are expected to try and improve their lineups in the summer although there will be restrictions. Most are facing financial difficulties and no club has been spared. Hence, lower-cost players like Pervis Estupinan are expected to get their share of attention. And it appears that is the case with at least two teams interested in getting the Ecuadorian football player.

Barcelona and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the left-back who is signed to Watford. Since signing up in 2016, the 22-year-old has never actually played for The Hornets. He has been always on loan with the current one for Osasuna. Regardless, Estupinan has made a good account of himself, starting in 27 La Liga games. That has captured the interest of Barca and the Red Devils, two teams working on a strict budget.

But between the two, United is reportedly in the lead for the services of the Watford defender according to the Express. The Red Devils could initiate a deal, especially if the Spanish team does not pick up the buy option of Estupinan. He is priced at $11 million, a reasonable and low-cost amount that could fit in with United's tight budget. Aside from Barca and the Red Devils, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are reportedly also interested in getting the Ecuadorian football player, ESPN reported.

But United seems to be serious in its pursuit of Estupinan. In fact, they have already sent scouts to watch the left-back. Though he has scored only one goal in La Liga, it appears they saw something that could help out the clubs cause moving forward.

Estupinan may only be a minor position that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to fill. United is still in hot pursuit of Jadon Sancho, someone who will cost a lot to acquire. The asking price for the 20-year-old is a whopping $144 million, something that may force United to think twice. As mentioned in a previous post, the Red Devils are looking for alternatives to save on expenses. The name of Leon Bailey has been mentioned, a player that costs only $50 million.

United has opted to take it slow as far as player targets, preferring to make the big moves in the summer. They have more than enough players right now to get through the season. The story is different come next season where Solskjaer hopes to infuse new faces in the mix.
