  • Loris Karius prefers to stay with Liverpool FC
  • Karius is open to moving if he will be a regular
  • Liverpool FC may offer Karius to other teams

Some players who were out on loan are returning to their mother clubs. One of them is Loris Karius, who just concluded his loan spell to Besiktas.

However, his return to Anfield is no assurance that he will get to play for The Reds. Alisson Becker remains the club's top goalie, but the 26-year-old does not seem to mind. If he had his way, he will ponder on his future once his current deal runs out. Karius' contract is good until 2022.

Though he is happy with his return to Liverpool, his tenure could be cut if some other team expresses interest in him. If not, the Reds could sever ties with the German goalkeeper. This is a possible scenario with most clubs hit hard by the financial woes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

But for now, nothing close to these has been suggested. Hence, all Karius wants to do now is enjoy his return to Anfield.

But Karius admitted that he would love to see action if some team would want to get him from the Reds. However, he made it clear that a transfer will only happen if some club makes the first move. For now, he is content playing backup to Becker and remains with a great club, transfermarkt reported.

"Of course I have to play if I am going to change clubs. It makes no sense to say: 'I'm leaving Liverpool for a worse club and I'm only number two there'," Karius said. "But I'm not in a pressure situation at all, I don't have to change."

However, a lock on the no. 2 goalie spot may not be that simple. Karius will have to prove he deserves the spot. Out to crowd him as a backup to Alisson is Adrian San Miguel del Castillo. Though he is younger, the final say will still be coming from Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

Things are now different for Karius compared to his younger years. When he was still with the U16 national team, he recalled how many scouts were watching during their games. He had multiple offers at that time, but it was Manchester City that stood out.

So far, only two teams have been linked to Karius. They are Wolverhampton and West Ham. The only problem there is that he was being considered as a backup, The Sun reported. If that were the case, it may be best for him to stay with The Reds for now. That is unless some other team plans to try him out as a starting goalkeeper.
