  • Manchester City joins race for Leon Bailey
  • Leon Bailey to replace Leroy Sane
  • Bailey interested to play under Pep Guardiola

Manchester City is preparing for the evident exit of Leroy Sane, someone who is determined to leave Etihad Stadium. Sane has reportedly turned down any offer from the Sky Blues, forcing the hand of Pep Guardiola to skim the market for a replacement. It appears he has found one and it is Leon Bailey.

Ironically, Bailey has also attracted interest from other clubs. That list includes Manchester United and Chelsea FC. The Red Devils had diverted their attention to the 22-year-old football player, a backup choice in the event they fall short in their pursuit of Sancho. Aware that it will take roughly $144 million to reel in the English winger, Bailey looms would be a cheaper target at $50 million.

That in mind, it seems Guardiola may have figured that out and has taken steps. In fact, Foot Mercato reported that City has already touched base with Bayern Leverkusen to discuss a potential deal for Bailey. Guardiola has shown his plans to Bailey and is now trying to convince him to sign up. Further to that report, it seems that Jamaican winger is interested to play under Guardiola.

Until something is signed, Chelsea and United remain in contention for the services of Bailey. Together with City, all three clubs will keep a close watch on the 22-year-old footballer as the season comes to a close in Germany. It may end up in an interesting race for his services this summer.

City finds itself in dire straits with Sane imminently heading out the door. But in a previous post, it was mentioned that the Citizens will not make it easy for teams to pluck him away. They are demanding a hefty $80 million for Sane. Bayern Munich is believed to be the club that is hot on Sane's trail. They have already discussed a potential deal for Sane but are far from reaching an agreement per a previous post.

The interest of Der FCB remains even though Sane has had an injury-riddled season. The German has yet to play since the resumption of football action on account of an ACL injury. He did not suit up against Arsenal. Regardless, Guardiola believes he has enough healthy players to cover the left-wing.

“Most of them are in good condition, like Phil, Riyad, Gabriel and Raheem. Players like that can play quite regularly for a long time. They are so stable in terms of injuries," Guardiola said via the team's official site.
