After their historic championship season, Manchester City are in a very tight battle with Liverpool in the 2018-19 Premier League season. The Reds currently have a four-point advantage on the defending champions but oddsmakers are not completely convinced of Liverpool's chances of ending their domestic league title drought.

According to Sky Bet, Manchester City still are the favorites at 5/6. Liverpool is close behind at even odds.

After the top two, and with 20 matches remaining, there is a major dropoff of competing clubs. Tottenham, who are only six points out of the top spot, are a 16/1 longshot while Chelsea have 100/1 odds of winning the title. Arsenal have the fourth-best odds at 150/1.

Much attention will be paid to the schedules of Liverpool and City. On Christmas, Liverpool host Newcastle United, while City are on the road against Leicester City. Liverpool close out 2018 on Saturday at Anfield against Arsenal. City will stay on the road when they face Southampton on Sunday.

City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019. The two teams played to a scoreless result at Anfield on Oct. 7.

Entering the season, betting site OddsShark listed City as the favorite at -150, while Liverpool had the second strongest odds at +400.

Both clubs' top rival, Manchester United, quickly slipped out of the title race despite having the third-best odds (+750) of winning the Premier League title.
