President Joe Biden Is 'Doing Just Fine' After Testing Positive For COVID-19
President Joe Biden is reportedly doing better on Sunday as he recovers after testing positive for COVID-19.
The White House announced on Thursday that Biden had tested positive. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre had said that Biden, who is fully vaccinated and has received two booster shots, had been experiencing “very mild symptoms.”
Biden has been following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on isolation, while also taking an emergency use anti-viral drug Paxlovid.
“I checked in with his team late last night. He was feeling well. He had a good day yesterday. He’s got a viral syndrome, an upper respiratory infection … and he’s doing just fine,” White House coronavirus response coordinator Ashish Jha said in an interview with CBS News.
Jha said that Biden has the BA.5 variant. Jha said Biden is doing better so quickly due to being fully vaccinated.
The physician to the president, Kevin C. O’Connor, released a statement on Sunday also stating that Biden is making a recovery.
“President Biden completed his third full day of Paxlovid last night. His symptoms continue to improve significantly. His predominant symptom now is sore throat. This is most likely a result of lymphoid activation as his body clears the virus, and is thus encouraging,” O’Connor said.
O’Connor added that Biden's cough and body aches have gone away, though his voice remains deeper. Biden’s pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature are also all normal.
