  • "He has been completely taken over, I think it’s because he doesn’t understand what's going on," Trump said

President Donald Trump accused presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden of being “brainwashed” by the “radical left,” citing the unity task force platform crafted by the former vice president and Sen. Bernie Sanders, who dropped his own quest for the nomination and endorsed his rival.

“Joe is just, look let's face it, he's been taken over by the radical left. He has no clue what they're doing,” Trump said during a Fox News’ interview Thursday. “They brainwashed him, he doesn't know where he is, he doesn’t know what he's doing and our country will suffer. Our stock markets will crash, bad things will happen.”

Trump said Biden is “worse than Bernie Sanders at his best.”

Biden and Sanders established their unity task force in May. Members represented various wings of the Democratic Party, from more moderate Democrats like John Kerry to progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The task force worked for nearly two months, putting together a 110-page document of proposals to help unite the party ahead of the November elections.

The document contains proposals on climate change, immigration, education and the economy, with particular focus on healthcare and police reform.

“While Joe Biden and I, and our supporters, have strong disagreements about some of the most important issues facing our country, we also understand that we must come together in order to defeat Donald Trump, the most dangerous president in modern American history,” Sanders said in a press release.

Biden also voiced his support of the proposals.

“I am deeply grateful to Senator Sanders for working together to unite our party, and deliver real, lasting change for generations to come,” Biden said.

This “brainwashing” by the “radical left” prompted Trump to suggest again that Biden take a cognitive test, alleging Biden’s mental faculties are failing.

“He has been completely taken over, I think it’s because he doesn’t understand what's going on,” Trump said. He then points to a test he took recently, saying he “aced it,” though he didn’t provide the results.

“I took one very recently when the radical left was saying, ‘Is he all there, is he all there?’ I proved it, because I aced it. He should take the very same test,” Trump said.

Biden’s campaign has not commented on Trump’s latest attack.
