Prince Charles has made a very unusual request when traveling overseas.

Carolyn Robb, the youngest and first female royal chef that served Prince Charles and Princess Diana, told Daily Mail that the heir to the throne demands that his homegrown food from the United Kingdom be brought along with him during his trips.

“He liked to have his own food with him – piles and piles of cool boxes – were taken around the world,” she said.

Robb added that even though the request may seem strange for others, it is done to make sure that Prince Charles won’t fall ill during his official engagements abroad.

“He couldn’t risk going down with a bad stomach when he was so busy,” she said.

Prince Charles has also been recognized for his preference for organic food over others. In the BBC documentary “Prince, Son, and Heir: Charles at 70,” Prince Charles’ forward-thinking when it came to fresh food and sustainability was lauded by fans. The dad of two is also known for wrapping up his leftovers and bringing them back home to avoid wasting food.

Prince Charles also has another outrageous demand when traveling. For instance, he prefers to bring his own alcohol to prevent his drinks from being tampered with.

In related news, Prince Charles also made headlines this week after it was reported that his disastrous marriage to Princess Diana prevented Prince William from wanting to propose to Kate Middleton.

In the book “Making of a Royal Romance” by Katie Nicholl, it was revealed how Prince William witnessed his parents’ marriage crumble under pressure. The second in line to the throne didn’t want to endure the same pressure.

“He was aware that his father had been pressurized into marrying Diana because she was deemed a suitable bride. He was reluctant to bow to similar pressure and vowed not to be hurried into the altar,” Nicholl said.

When Prince William was just 22 years old, he was asked if he had any plans to get married soon. He said that he wants to tie the knot when he’s between the ages of 28 and 30.
