Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly exchange Christmas gifts in private.

Grant Harrold, the former butler of the royal family, revealed that the members of the British clan typically exchange funny gifts on Christmas Eve. However, the real presents are given to each other on Christmas Day.

“The whole family arrives on Christmas Eve at around tea time and the interesting thing is the royal family follow the tradition of opening presents on Christmas Eve. It’s more gifts that have no serious value, gimmick fun gifts,” he told The Sun.

Harrold added that the real presents are given to each other on Dec. 25, and this is done in private. He also said that the younger members of the royal family receive their gifts on Christmas Day and not on Christmas Eve.

Prince Harry and Markle will be heading to Sandringham in a few days in preparation of the royal family’s Christmas celebration. Queen Elizabeth II will head to the estate much earlier than others to make sure that everything is going well.

On Dec. 25, the royal family will attend two church services. One is a private service, which starts at 9 a.m. The second one is a public service held at St. Mary Magdalene Church at 11 a.m.

In related news, Markle also made headlines this week after it was reported that she left a beautiful Christmas gift at the Royal Variety Charity’s nursing home on Tuesday. Markle left a handwritten note on an artwork frame, which will be displayed at the nursing home.

“Merry Christmas. Love, Meghan,” the Duchess of Sussex wrote. She also designed her note with three yellow stars. Markle was not joined by Prince Harry during her recent engagement.

While at the nursing home, Markle met former Eastenders star Mona Hammond and Richard O’Sullivan of Robin’s nest fame, who also happen to be residents at the Royal Variety Charity. The recent engagement will serve as Markle’s last outing before she heads to Sandringham for the holidays.
