Prince Harry’s wild antics reportedly affected Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles' relationship.

The Duke of Sussex lived a wild life when he was younger. Prince Harry had been involved in a number of scandals, and at one point, his misbehavior even affected the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall’s wedding announcement.

Royal author Gyles Brandreth claimed in his book, “Charles & Camilla: Portrait of a Love Affair,” that Prince Charles and Camilla’s wedding announcement was delayed due to Prince Harry. The prince did another thing that landed him on the tabloids’ cover pages, reportedly forcing the engaged couple to wait for another day to make their official announcement.

“Sunday, January 23, 2005, news of the engagement was about to break – but the newspapers had not caught on,” Brandreth wrote.

The author added that there were reports about Prince Charles’ official visit to the United States in autumn, and the future king wanted to take Camilla with him. He added that all of the details had been agreed on until Prince Harry got involved in another scandal.

“Indeed, we might have already had the announcement had it not been for the New Year brew ha ha over young Harry being photographed at a fancy dress party wearing a World War 2 Afrika Korps uniform,” Brandreth continued.

Prince Harry’s photo sporting a swastika armband was splashed on newspapers and magazines worldwide. Prince Charles apparently received calls about it during his holiday with Camilla.

According to Penny Junor, it was fortunate that the delay was only 24 hours. “It's been a difficult run up to this wedding, fraught with problems, and I think the sooner it is over and done with, we'll all be able to hear the sigh of relief,” she said.

Aside from Prince Harry’s wild antics, Prince Charles and Camilla’s wedding date was delayed by a day following Pope John Paul II’s death. Initially, Prince Charles and Camilla wanted to get married on a Friday, April 8. However, the Vatican announced that the pope would be buried on that day, so they waited for another day.

In related news, Princess Diana was reportedly desperate to reconcile with Prince Charles and make their marriage works. However, she never had the chance because Camilla never went away.
