Prince William and Kate Middleton are very strict when it comes to the privacy of their children, but they openly share photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte to the public from time to time.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are determined to give their children the privacy they need. They want Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to grow up like any normal child, so they protect their kids from the press. But Prince William and Middleton reportedly still share some of their children's photos with the public because that's expected of them.

"Nothing is a given, but in terms of managing to keep a good relationship with the British media, it's in William's and Kate's interest to release photos," royal commentator Victoria Arbiter said (via Express).

Prince William and Middleton carefully control who photographs their kids. In fact, when they were still living at Anmer Hall, the couple implemented a "no-fly zone" on their estate to prevent helicopters and drones from getting photos of their kids.

On several occasions, Middleton personally took the shots. For instance, the royal mom of three was the one who captured Princess Charlotte's first day of school portrait in January. She also took Prince Charlotte and Prince Louis' first photos following their births.

Middleton and Prince William are very careful when it comes to choosing the photographers they work with. They also warned the press about taking photos of their children after an incident in 2015.

"One recent incident…was disturbing, but not at all uncommon," Kensington Palace said in a statement. "A photographer rented a car and parked in a discreet location outside a children’s play area. Police discovered him lying down in the boot of the vehicle attempting shoot photos with a long lens through a small gap in his hide."

The photographers reportedly used other children as bait to lure Prince George and Princess Charlotte into the frame. As a result, Prince William and Middleton share photos of their children from time to time to keep the public updated. However, they are still expecting the media to also give them the privacy they need.

A royal expert claimed that they would abide by the same compromise on Prince Louis' christening, and fortunately, this was actually what happened. Prince William and Middleton allowed photographers to take pictures during their arrival and departure, but they were left alone during and after the ceremony.
