Many social media users believe that the combination of Prince William and Kate Middleton is one of the greatest couples in the history of British royal family. A lot has been said and discussed about the couple’s love life, but many people do not know how their love story actually started.

Royal author Tom Quinn opened up about the first meeting that took place between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and how the whole meeting was a scene straight out of a romantic feature film.

While making an appearance in the Channel 5 documentary “William and Kate: Too Good To Be True?” the author spilled the beans on the awkward first meeting between the two, The Sun reported. Quinn revealed that William was so “desperate” to meet Middleton that he “tripped” while walking toward her.

The expert also noted that William knew that it was a “terrible” start to the relationship.

“One of the funny stories is he was so desperate to meet her that as he walked toward her, he apparently tripped and said, “Oh that is a terrible start, you are going to think I am a complete clot!’” Quinn said.

William and Kate studied at St. Andrews University. Both initially studied Arts, but the Duke of Cambridge later switched to pursue Geography.

The couple got engaged in 2010 when William proposed to Middleton while on a trip to Kenya. During the couple’s engagement interview, the Duke revealed that it was the right time for them to take that step and it was not a “massive surprise” because the couple had been talking about marriage for a while.

“We had been talking about marriage or a while, so it was not a massively big surprise, but I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya,” William said.

On April 29, 2011, the couple tied the knot in a grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

In July 2013, the Duchess gave birth to Prince George and stepped out for pictures alongside William. The royal couple then welcomed their second child, Princess Charlotte, in 2015.

Two years later, Middleton gave birth to their third child, Prince Louis.
