Prince William and Prince Harry both hated Prince Charles for making their mom Princess Diana cry.

It’s not a secret that the Prince and Princess of Wales had an “unhappy” marriage. Following Princess Harry’s birth, Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s troubled marriage continued as they would often have heated argument around their sons.

In Andrew Morton’s 2011 book “William and Catherine: Their Lives, Their Wedding,” the author revealed that Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s parental rivalry continued behind closed doors in Kensington Palace. Morton added how Prince Harry was affected by his parents’ unhappiness that he attacked the future king once.

“Young Harry launched an attack on his father, ineffectually beating him on the legs with his fists,” Morton wrote.

“I hate you, I hate you, you make Mummy cry,” Prince Harry shouted.

Prince William also had a similar encounter with Prince Charles. According to Katie Nicholl’s 2010 biography “William and Harry,” at one point the Duke of Cambridge lashed out at the future king during a heated argument because he could no longer bear his parents’ bickering.

“I hate you, Papa. I hate you so much. Why do you make [mommy] cry all the time?” Prince William told Prince Charles before he slammed the door.

Morton found Prince William “sensitive and a little shy.” The biographer added that the Duke of Cambridge was already old enough to absorb the confusing emotional meaning behind Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s stony silences and harsh words when they were together.

There was a time when he pushed tissues under the door to Princess Diana’s bathroom, where the People’s Princess reportedly “closeted” herself so her staff and children would not see her cry.

When Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced, the latter was stripped of her royal title. However, the little prince promised his mom that he would return the HRH title to her when he becomes the new king.

Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell believes that Prince William will fulfill his promise even if Princess Diana is no longer alive to enjoy the title. Burrell said on Amazon Prime’s documentary “The Diana Story” that the first thing Prince William will do during his kingship is to restore his mother’s title.
