Princess Beatrice just got engaged to her fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. During their engagement announcement, a photo of the 31-year-old royal’s engagement ring was released online.

According to Tobias Kormind, the managing director of 77 Diamonds, Princess Beatrice’s ring features a 3.5 carat round diamond that is medium in size, and it is set in an art deco design and tapered with baguettes on both sides of the center stone. The estimated value of the ring is £60,000.

But unlike Kate Middleton’s engagement ring, Princess Beatrice’s ring is more modern. As such, the royal’s ring shares more similarities with Meghan Markle’s engagement ring.

“Unlike Kate and Eugenie, who were given colored gemstones, Edoardo has gone for a more modern engagement ring with a diamond, like Harry for Meghan. While Meghan got a cushion cut diamond, an older but more trendy diamond shape, Beatrice has been given the most popular and brightest diamond, a round, accompanied by a pair of tapered baguettes, which creates a very art deco look,” Kormind said.

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice’s engagement to Mapelli Mozzi is quite controversial because it brought back the previous issue between Sarah Ferguson and the royal family.

After the Duchess of York was photographed in a toe-sucking scandal with John Bryan, she was frozen out by the royal family, most especially by Prince Philip and Prince Charles.

Years later, Princess Beatrice reportedly said that her mom has been a victim of mean-spirited actions that make her feel unwelcome.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie believe the Duke of Edinburgh and other royals have no excuse for freezing Sarah Ferguson out, more than a decade later after her toe-sucking scandal and have tried to encourage their grandparents to forgive and forget,” a source said.

The royal siblings also said that Ferguson is regarded as irritation by Prince Philip even though the Queen still tried to reach out to the Duchess of York by inviting her to Balmoral.
