Princess Diana had always wanted to marry Prince Andrew and not Prince Charles.

The Prince and Princess of Wales didn’t have a happy marriage. Prince Charles and Princess Diana tied the knot in a fairytale wedding, but their relationship wasn’t that smooth and ended up in divorce. It turned out that Princess Diana married the wrong man.

According to Andrew Morton, when Princess Diana was just a kid, she had always wanted to marry a royal prince. However, it’s not Prince Charles who later became her husband, but his younger brother, Prince Andrew. The royal biographer noted that Princess Diana had always talked about marrying Prince Andrew.

“One of [Andrew’s] early chums was a certain Lady Diana Spencer whom he met when he was at Sandringham,” Morton wrote in “Andrew: The Playboy Prince.”

“As a youngster she always said she was going to marry Andrew. Right family, wrong name.”

In a 2017 documentary, another insider said that they thought Princess Diana would end up with Prince Andrew. According to Betty Andrews, Princess Diana’s former housekeeper, the two are both attractive. The Duke of York has “dashing good looks.” Also, the two were closer in age.

Just recently, photos of Prince Andrew and Princess Diana have resurfaced on Instagram. In the snaps, the two appeared to be a great match. Another snap featured the two smiling and it seems that Princess Diana is about to give Prince Andrew a kiss on the cheek to greet him or bid goodbye.

The photos were taken when the People’s Princess visited Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at Portland Hospital after giving birth to Princess Eugenie. Many netizens were convinced that it would have been better if Princess Diana married Prince Andrew instead of Prince Charles.

In related news, the Duke and Duchess of York have been divorced for over two decades already but both remain single. According to recent reports, Prince Andrew and Ferguson are back together and are planning to get married again. Prince Andrew is reportedly “fast-tracking their wedding plans” and is hoping that they can remarry later this year on Ferguson’s 60th birthday.
