Princess Michael of Kent is reportedly not happy about the addition of Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle to the royal family.

Almost all royal fans love the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex. Even the senior members of the firm don’t have issues with Middleton and Markle joining their fold. However, Princess Michael reportedly didn’t feel the same.

Princess Michael’s daughter Lady Gabriella Windsor is the next royal bride. She is set to marry Thomas Kingston at St. George’s Chapel. Before she dated Kingston, Lady Gabriella was romantically involved with Aatish Taseer, who revealed Princess Michael’s disposition about commoners like Middleton and Markle.

“She was of the firm belief that it was a bad idea for royalty to marry commoners,” Taseer said, according to Express.

“Kate Middleton, the daughter of an air hostess, is future Queen, and now there is Meghan Markle—a divorcée and an actress of mixed race, both unthinkable for a family that routinely demanded the sacrifice of big love at the altar of respectability,” he added.

Taseer noted that Princess Margaret was ordered to break things off with Group Captain Peter Townsend, a divorcé. On the other hand, King Edward VIII was forced to abdicate the throne when he pursued American socialite and twice-divorced Wallis Simpson.

Princess Michael is not close to Middleton and Markle. According to Richard Kay, even if the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex are living close to the Kents, Princess Michael, whom he described as a generous hostess, is unlikely to party with them.

Taseer also labeled Princess Michael a “racist.” He pointed out her two black sheep which she named after African-American tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams.

“Princess Michael, though generally free of British colonial prejudices, and beyond reproach when it came to me, nevertheless invited trouble out of what felt like a desire to shock,” he added.

Back in December 2017, Princess Michael was involved in a controversy after wearing a blackamoor brooch during the royals’ annual Christmas lunch where Markle was present. Many deemed her accessory offensive especially that the former “Suits” star is a woman of color.

Princess Michael immediately apologized and said that the brooch was a gift and she had been using it. She said that she was sorry and distressed for the offense it caused.
