“Prison Break” Season 5 has been causing quite a buzz since it was confirmed earlier this year, and lead actor Dominic Purcell is overwhelmed by the response the Fox reboot has been getting.

The 46-year-old actor, who plays Lincoln in “Prison Break,” recently took to Instagram to express his excitement and gratitude over the high anticipation Season 5 has garnered among fans. On Tuesday, Sept. 13, he shared a screenshot of the headline of The Independent’s Sept. 6 article, which read, “’Prison Break’ is 20 times more anticipated than all other new TV shows.”

“Never in doubt,” he wrote as caption on the Instagram post. “I'm humbled as I'm sure the cast are; to be a part of this incredible tv drama and #international #phenomenon. A big debt and gratitude to @pscheuring writer creator and @foxtv @20thcenturyfox. Cheers. Kinda trips me out. But super stoked. S5 @prisonbreak. Will Blow up.”

Based on the research conducted by ListenFirst Media, “Prison Break” has garnered a whopping 19.5 million social media engagements from May to August, 20 times more than any other upcoming TV show. NBC’s “This Is Us,” which premieres Sept. 20, is the second most anticipated series, garnering 1.56 million engagements. Rounding up the top three is the “MacGyver” reboot, which clocked in 558,073 and is set to premiere on Sept. 23.

It’s no surprise that fans are so hyped to see Lincoln, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and the gang reunite on the small screen for the “Prison Break” reboot, since it’s been seven years since fans last saw them in the 2009 TV movie “The Final Break.” ListenFirst Media co-CEO and co-founder Jason Klein said of the show, “The numbers show that ‘Prison Break's’ return to air is met with fervour from fans who have been missing the show for years.”

Meanwhile, Purcell has been sharing photos of his new tattoos on Instagram over the past few weeks. The tattoos, which are scattered all over his arms, show maps and blueprints of what is presumed to be the prison in Yemen he and Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) will have to spring his brother Michael from in “Prison Break” Season 5. “Prison Break” Season 5 premieres January 2017 on FOX.
