  • Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal believes Martin Odegaard could double his value by next summer
  • The 22-year-old midfielder can certainly live up to the Ozil comparisons placed upon him
  • Odegaard is slowly growing into the player that Arsenal fans have been waiting for

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano believes that Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard could double his value by next year’s summer transfer window.

Speaking on his “Here We Go” Podcast, Romano revealed Arsenal’s line of thinking when it came to arguably their biggest summer transfer signing.

“He was the only name. It was first position (Martin) Odegaard, second position Odegaard, third position Odegaard. Odegaard was the only one they wanted,” said Romano.

“So, congratulations to Arsenal. And they are really happy with Odegaard. The strategy has been perfect, and they are convinced that they spent €35 million ($41 million) but this player will be worth maybe double in some months, so this is what they expect from Odegaard.”

The master of the transfer rumors and moves also mentioned that Real Madrid was not keen on selling Odegaard at all, until late August where Arsenal was able to pry Odegaard away from Real Madrid.

Arsenal’s interest in permanently signing the 22-year-old attacking midfielder started when they were able to give him a trial run last season on a loan deal.

He scored his first goal off a solo run strike from outside the box in a 3-1 away win over Olympiacos in their first meeting of the Round of 16 in the Europa League.

This season, Odegaard has appeared in three games for Arsenal already and scored this beauty of a goal off a free kick against Burnley, giving them their second win in the English Premier League.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and the entire Arsenal management group have been under fire for their decision to sign young players during the summer window.

Fans believed that winning was not on their mind due to those decisions, but the club finally found its footing after beating Norwich on September 11 at home.

As for Odegaard, there is reason to believe that he can double his value.

The 22-year-old has been compared to Mesut Ozil in the past, and if he adapts to Arteta’s coaching and helps make Arsenal a relevant force again in the Premier League, then the club would be correct in their belief in him.

Odegaard and Arsenal have momentum on their side as they welcome Harry Kane and the Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, September 26.
