If you really want to make New Year's Eve 2015 special, expect to wake up early to view Sydney's massive celebration. Sydney's New Year's Eve 2015 live stream kicks off at 8:30 p.m., local time (4:30 a.m. EST), with fireworks ringing in the new year at midnight, local time (8 a.m. EST). Australia's Telstra will sponsor the event from Sydney Harbor.

The Sydney New Year's Eve celebration begins with air displays over the harbor beginning at 6 p.m., local time (2 a.m. EST), which will not be part of the broadcast. At 8:30 p.m., local time, the Sydney New Year's Eve live stream begins with images projected on the north and south pylons of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Tweets tagged with "#SydNYE" will be featured on the bridge. An "acknowledgement of country" ceremony honoring the "Aborignal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage" begins at 8:40 p.m., local time (4:40 a.m. EST).

The theme for Sydney New Year's Eve is "inspire," and the Sydney Harbor Bridge will feature displays connected to the annual theme beginning at 8:45 p.m., local time (4:45 a.m. EST). For a taste of what's to come, the family fireworks at 9 p.m., local time (5 a.m. EST), is an eight-minute event for young children and families who are unable to stay until midnight. The "harbor of light" parade at 9:15 p.m., local time (5:15 a.m. EST), features illuminated fleets of boats traveling across the harbor. There is one final display at 10:40 p.m., local time (6:40 a.m. EST), "the inspire moment," prior to the famed fireworks at midnight.

Some of Australia's most popular musical acts will perform throughout the night. Zeek Power, Art vs. Science and Milky Chance will perform at 8:44 p.m., local time (4:44 a.m. EST); 9:40 p.m., local time (5:40 a.m. EST); and 10:30 p.m., local time (6:30 a.m. EST), respectively. The Temper Trap will be the last musical performance of the evening, starting at 11 p.m., local time (7 a.m. EST).

The Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks display rivals the celebration at Times Square for good reason. The display combines seven tons of fireworks -- 11,000 shells and 25,000 shooting comets -- firing off from seven barges located around Sydney Harbor Bridge and seven nearby buildings. Sydney's New Year's Eve celebration cost an estimated $7.2 million.
