Queen Elizabeth II did not visit Prince Philip at the hospital before he was released.

Days before Christmas, the palace confirmed that the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the hospital. The duke has already returned home, but the Queen never paid him a visit at the facility.

Many royal fans were wondering why the Queen didn’t visit her husband. Royal expert Victoria Arbiter explained the monarch’s decision on Twitter.

“After seeing some pretty horrid comments about the Queen being at Sandringham while Philip is in hospital I’d like to TRY to add a little perspective. Generally royals don’t visit each other in hospital,” she wrote.

She added that monarch’s decision was not due to “lack of sensitivity.” In addition, doing so will cost so much for her security.

“The security requirements alone would be incredibly disruptive. Conscious of other patients undergoing treatment they don’t want to cause undue stress for them or their families,” she continued.

In a separate tweet, Arbiter also stressed that the royals are very private when it comes to their medical issues. They also don’t visit each other on the hospital to avoid further speculations. Prince Philip hates fuss and would want the Queen and other members of the royal family to continue things as normal with their family, children and grandchildren.

Arbiter also defended the royals saying that their decision is “sensible.” The Queen, on her part, only followed her husband’s wishes. Arbiter ended her series of tweets by encouraging the people to give a little empathy to the royal family instead of throwing stones at them. For her, the members of the Firm including the Queen are not horrible and the people should stop analyzing and criticizing their moves.

Prince Philip has already returned home. Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly urged to go home to spend the holiday with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. However, they opted to stay in Canada with some calling them “inconsiderate and selfish.”

Sir Rod Stewart also criticized the couple’s decision. He said that he flies every Christmas to be with his parents because he knows they don’t have many Christmases left and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should have considered the same thing.
