Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry shared some sweet grandmother and grandson moments before the Sussexes announced their exit.

The Queen and the Duke of Sussex are very close. In fact, the monarch said that she wanted to keep Prince Harry and Markle but she supports their decision to resign from their royal roles.

Hello! gathered various photos of the royal grandmother and grandson to showcase their close bond. According to the publication, the two share cheeky sense of humor.

In 2003, the Queen was photographed looking with delight at Prince Harry when they exchanged a gift at a polo match. In 2013, Her Majesty was also photographed looking proudly at Markle’s husband during a reception for Walking With The Wounded.

In 2008, the 35-year-old royal was photographed giving his granny a kiss on the cheek when they attended Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly’s wedding. The monarch was gorgeous in her silver coat. She accessorized with double-strand pearl necklace and pearl earrings. She also wore black gloves and was holding her black bag.

In the same year, Barack and Michelle Obama waged a friendly war against Prince Harry for the Invictus Games. The ex-POTUS and ex-FLOTUS warned Prince Harry and a uniformed gentleman behind them gave the symbolic mic drop and said “boom.”

The royal tandem didn’t back down. They watched the Obamas’ video together with the Queen asking “Boom, really? Please.” Then, Prince Harry made a funny face and copied the mic drop symbol while saying “boom.”

In 2016, Prince Harry and the Queen reunited at the opening of the Royal Chelsea Flower Show. When they met, the duke leaned down and planted a kiss on Her Majesty’s cheek.

In May 2019, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry were photographed staring at each other while smiling when they attended Lady Gabriella Windsor’s wedding May 2019. At the time, Prince Harry and Markle had just welcomed their newborn son Archie. Prince William’s younger brother was beaming with joy and was visibly a proud dad.

Just recently, the Queen made a statement announcing that Prince Harry and Markle will be stepping back from all of their royal duties. Also, the Sussexes will no longer be using their HRH titles and will repay the sovereign grant used to fund the Frogmore Cottage renovation because it will remain their home in the U.K.
