  • Queen Elizabeth has been dubbed as mean-spirited and harsh following her recent announcement
  • Queen Elizabeth shouldn't have stripped off Harry and Meghan's titles, a royal author claimed
  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer be able to use their royal titles

Queen Elizabeth has shockingly been called mean-spirited for removing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles.

While speaking with Express, royal author Nigel Cawthorne came to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex defense by saying that they didn’t do anything wrong that should merit the removal of their official titles.

“The palace’s decision to strip Prince Harry and Meghan of their HRH titles do not fall far short of being mean-spirited. They don’t stand accused of having committed a heinous criminal act. All they requested was to be allowed to lead a more private life not funded by the state,” he said.

The author of “Call Me Diana: The Princess of Wales on Herself” added that the palace’s graceless response was unnecessarily harsh, and it also shows that no lessons have been learned since the death of the Princess of Wales.

Just months before Princess Diana passed away, her royal title was also revoked because she and Prince Charles got a divorce. However, it is important to note that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex haven’t been officially stripped off their titles, but they have been advised that they could no longer use them.

As such, the royal couple will simply be known as Harry and Meghan, which is in line with their desire to lead private lives.

Meanwhile, a lot of people are still criticizing Prince Harry and Markle for their decision to quit. The Duchess of Sussex’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, called the couple plans contradicting.

While speaking with Dan Wootton on talkRADIO, Samantha said that Prince Harry and Markle didn’t want to stay away from public life before they had Archie.

“It’s such a contradiction in terms of one side claiming the goal is to be private and have a private life while at the same time they’re pitching Disney, going to red carpet events and planning a global empire with products worth an estimated $400 million. It just seems very grand place next to a quiet, private life that you don’t really intercept,” she said.
