Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly using Meghan Markle as scapegoat amid Prince Andrew’s controversy.

The Duke of York and Duchess of Sussex are among the most scandalous royals. Both have been facing various controversies.

Markle has been criticized for overspending on her wardrobe, celebrating an extravagant baby shower that is more of a celebrity than a royal, obsessing with her family’s privacy and more. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew has been in hot water for his connections with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

A number of netizens felt that the monarch is only using Markle as a scapegoat for the duke. Many felt that Prince Andrew’s issues are far more serious than the Duchess of Sussex’s.

“Queen Elizabeth is trying to distract from Prince Andrew with Meghan Markle!! Shady!!” Perez Hilton wrote on Twitter.

“Maybe it was planned out that way. Nothing is overseen by the queen, after all,” a different user wrote.

Some netizens felt that Markle’s issues were not only used for Prince Andrew but to cover up Prince William’s infidelity rumors, too.

“They’ve been the scapegoats to take the heat off Andrew and William. It’s really sad,” a different user opined.

Earlier this year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s marriage was tested when tabloids reported that Prince William allegedly cheated on his wife with Rose Hanbury. Prince William and Kate Middleton ended the cheating rumors by showing everyone that they are okay. In fact, the couple has become more tactile lately. Body language expert Judi James said that the future king and queen have been showing a “slow but steady” increase of PDA.

Even before Perez’s post, several royal fans have already noticed that the monarchy is willing to defend Prince Andrew but not Markle from their critics. Many felt that this wasn’t right especially since the Duke of York’s mistakes are worse than Prince Harry’s wife.

“I admired the Monarchy for years —because I didn’t know what they are really like. Their treatment of Meghan as opposed to their treatment of Andrew showed me their true colors. And I despise what I see,” one royal fan wrote.
