Queen Maxima of the Netherlands sported a unique beehive headgear when she attended a ceremony at the City Hall in Paris Friday. The 44-year-old Dutch royal wore the dome-shaped headgear to meet the Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo on the second day of her state visit to France. She was accompanied by her husband King Willem-Alexander.

Queen Maxima opted for a muted pink brocade coat and a brown furry hat or the beehive headgear flecked with silver fibres. Her knee-length colorful coat featured long sleeves which she paired with a knee-length pink dress. Her dress featured three-quarter length sleeves and a pleated high neckline.

The mother-of-three accessorized with a pair of gemstone stud earrings in yellow and purple. Her make-up was flawless with smoky eyes and a slick of pink lipstick. Maxima’s honey blonde locks were styled into a loose and low bun underneath her hat.

The stylish queen pulled off her look in a pair of nude stilettos. The queen, who is known as a fashion risk taker, pulled all stops for the event. This is not the first time the Argentina-born royal has taken a style risk with her headgear.

On Thursday, she donned a wide-brimmed hat several times the size of her head to meet French President Francois Hollande. And on Wednesday she attended the ten year anniversary of the “Leerorkest” Learning Orchestra sporting a futuristic-looking silver piece which seemed to be unsure of whether it was a headband or a hat on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Maxima, who sang the Dutch national anthem during the ceremony on Friday, crouched down to greet a little boy on the red carpet.

The Dutch royals hosted a reception at Le Petit Palais. The couple were on a state visit to Paris over the weekend. The mother-of-three wowed royal enthusiasts during the two-day trip, looking every inch a beauty icon with a series of elegant hair and make-up looks. Also, for the state dinner Maxima was dressed to the nines and showed off one of the season’s latest beauty trends — glossy berry hued lips.
