Quentez Rashaad Ruffin, 25, was fatally wounded Sunday at about 4:30 a.m. following a dispute with Walter Garrett, 35. The Harris County Sherriff's Office reports Garrett has been charged with the murder.

Garrett is accused of fatally stabbing Ruffin and running away following the attack.

According to the Houston Chronicle, a deputy saw Garrett and Ruffin fighting prior to the attack. When the deputy set out to investigate the disagreement, Garrett fled the scene.

As the deputy parked his vehicle to investigate the disturbance, the suspect fled to a residence, where his kicked the front door open and entered the residence, a statement from the sheriff's office said the Katy Times reports. The suspect was then shot by the homeowner after he made forced entry into the residence.

Ruffin was flown by helicopter to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Garrett was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital for a non-life-threatening wound due to the gunshot wound.

Garrett is currently in custody of the police and being held with a $50,000 bond.
