‘Ratchet And Clank' Cast To Include Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Bella Thorne, Rosario Dawson, Sylvester Stallone

It seems like the stars have aligned for Insomniac’s upcoming “Ratchet and Clank” film, as a star-studded lineup was announced Wednesday for the CG animated movie coming in 2016. Joining the film are Paul Giamatti, John Goodman, Bella Thorne, Rosario Dawson and Sylvester Stallone, Hollywood Reporter revealed.

Fans of the “Ratchet and Clank” games will be happy to know that despite the amount of talent announced, many of the game’s original voice cast will be present for the 2016 film. James Arnold Taylor, David Kaye and Jim Ward return as Ratchet, Clank and Captain Qwark, respectively, in this new retelling of the characters and their origin story.

Giamatti will play Chairman Drek, the lead villain in the film who Ratchet and Clank have to stop. Goodman will play Grimroth, while Thorne and Dawson will play Cora and Elaris, respectively. Finally, Stallone will be playing a character named Victor.

The original “Ratchet and Clank” game came out on Sony PlayStation 2 in 2002 and has grown incredibly popular since then. The series now has over a dozen games for PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 combined, not including the “Clank” spinoff title.

What made the games popular were the varied weapons that could be used. Ratchet was able to purchase a variety of weapons that could be upgraded once a good number of bolts have been collected. This often led to interesting weapon upgrades that turned his laser gun into a laser shotgun, among other things.

Rainmaker Entertainment, known for films based on the popular “Barbie” dolls, is producing the new film. The studio has also worked on other animated series, including “Re-Boot,” “Spider-Man: The New Animated Series” and “Beast Machines: Transformers.”

The film will be directed by Kevin Munroe, who directed another CG animated film in 2007 called “TMNT,” starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

According to a report from IGN, Insomniac Games will release a re-imagination of the character’s origin stories for PlayStation 4, called “Ratchet and Clank.” It is said to be a companion product to the animated film.

The “Ratchet and Clank” movie is set to come out April 29, 2016. The new “Ratchet and Clank” PS4 game is also set to come out around the same time.
