Bethenny Frankel has had a rough couple of weeks following the death of her ex-boyfriend Dennis Shields and is still mourning the loss of her former beau. Sources close to the star revealed she has since not signed on to return to “The Real Housewives of New York City” Season 11, which is expected to begin production next month.

The Skinnygirl founder has appeared in seven seasons of the “RHONY” and despite her lack of contract, she is expected to film new episodes for the NYC franchise without delaying production.

“Bethenny’s contract is much more complex than the other Housewives’ contracts. She’s usually late to the game when it comes to signing on but she doesn’t hold up production and she usually confirms just in time,” an insider told Us Weekly.

The network is well aware of the impact Shields’ death has had on the 47-year-old entrepreneur and isn’t pressuring her to make a decision about the upcoming season. “They are giving her space to grieve and letting her make the decision of when the right time is for her to return,” a second insider explained.

Those close to Frankel revealed her main priority is getting herself through this tragedy. “It has been a tough time for her and she is just trying to mourn the loss of Dennis right now. She hasn’t thought about when she’ll be ready to get back to work yet,” the source said.

An official cause of death has not been determined for Shields, who was found dead in Trump Tower on August 10. However, authorities suspect the 51-year-old may have overdosed on prescription pills.

Frankel and Shields reportedly began dating in 2016, following 20 years of friendship. Although she has not spoken about the extent of their relationship at the time of his death, insiders claim the businessman proposed to the Bravo star four months prior to his passing.

News of Frankel potentially returning to the reality show comes after reports claiming the star has been struggling to get along with her cast members. A premiere date for “The Real Housewives of New York City” Season 11 has not been announced.
