  • Lucas Vazquez has been associated with Real Madrid since 2011
  • He graduated from their youth set up in 2014
  • He is being chased by several European clubs, including Man Utd and Chelsea

Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez reportedly wants to help his side defeat Liverpool FC in the Champions League quarters to ensure he bags a move to the Premier League this summer.

Vazquez, who can play as both winger and right-back, is being linked with a move to Chelsea ahead of the 2021 summer market. The 29-year-old Spaniard is aware that his "future is at stake" and wants to use the Liverpool game to create a "good impression" on the Reds’ Premier League rivals Chelsea, according to Spanish media outlet Defensa Central.

Vazquez’s current deal with Real Madrid is due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 campaign. Vazquez is also being chased by other European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Manchester United, the Sport reported earlier this month. It is understood that the player has decided to part ways with his boyhood club because of the La Liga side’s renewal proposal.

Thomas Tuchel and Co are expected to monitor Vazquez during Real Madrid’s home and away fixture against Liverpool in the 2020-21 Champions League, with the first fixture scheduled to be played on Tuesday at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium in Madrid.

After graduating from Real Madrid’s youth set-up ahead of the 2014-15 term, Vazquez was sent on a season-long loan to La Liga rivals Espanyol. He netted four goals in as many as 39 competitive matches before returning to Santiago Bernabeu the following season. Since the 2015-16 campaign, Vazquez has been a regular member of the Real Madrid squad, having netted 26 goals over the years. He has claimed many honors with the Spanish giants, including two La Liga trophies and three Champions League titles.

The Defensa Central report stated that the player is very hard-working and produces his best on the field, which is why Zinedine Zidane wants Vazquez to stay back at Real Madrid. Even though that looks unlikely, the report has cited that "nothing is closed or ruled out" so far, with regards to where Vazquez will be playing next season.
