  • Alex Rodriguez was spotted at Katie Holmes' apartment building in Manhattan, reports say
  • Holmes' rep said she and Rodriguez don't know each other and have never met
  • Rodriguez is reportedly looking for apartments and didn't realize it was Holmes' building

Alex Rodriguez was spotted at Katie Holmes' apartment building in New York City over the weekend, but he wasn't there to visit the actress, a report says.

The former MLB star was seen by unnamed eyewitnesses who spoke to E! News and Page Six walking into and leaving the Manhattan apartment building where Holmes lives with her 15-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise. The sighting immediately sparked rumors that Rodriguez, who split with Jennifer Lopez in April, stopped by the building to see Holmes.

However, Holmes' rep quickly put an end to the speculation, telling E! News, "She doesn't know him."

The "Batman Begins" star's rep also told Page Six that she and Rodriguez "have never even met."

As for why Rodriguez visited the building, an unnamed source close to the former athlete said he was just house-hunting. "Alex is looking at lots of different apartments, he didn’t even realize it was Katie’s building — he’s never met her," the insider told Page Six.

Holmes has been single since her split from restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. last month. An unnamed source told Us Weekly that they "parted ways amicably" and "remain friends."

"Their relationship fizzled. They figured out they’re better off as friends. There’s no drama that went down with the breakup and in fact, they’re still friends," the insider said. "Katie and Emilio really enjoyed their time together — it just simply didn’t work out. She’s focusing on being a mom and her upcoming projects."

Meanwhile, the former Yankees slugger has reportedly been hunting for a new bachelor pad in New York City following his split from Lopez. According to Page Six, he previously looked at properties in Tribeca and the Upper West Side but has since expanded his search.

Rodriguez and the "Let's Get Loud" singer confirmed that they've ended their two-year engagement in a joint statement to "Today" in April.

"We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so," Lopez and Rodriguez wrote in the statement. "We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another's children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support."

While Rodriguez is still looking for a new home, Lopez has reportedly decided to leave Miami, Florida, and move to Los Angeles after she and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance last month. Their relationship appears to be heating up as the two were photographed kissing Sunday during a family gathering at Nobu restaurant in Malibu, California.
