A latest rumor claimed Alex Rodriguez hadn’t proposed to Jennifer Lopez yet as he can’t afford to buy an engagement ring for her. However, the rumor was debunked by Gossip Cop.

Last week, it was reported that Rodriguez was battling ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis over paying her $115,000 per month in child and spousal support. The former Yankee star has been paying the hefty fee since their 2008 divorce. However, after he retired from Yankees in 2016, his income fell significantly. He has reportedly offered to pay $20,000 per month to his wife which is double the monthly living expenses of his two daughters.

Woman’s Day Australia reported that this situation is preventing Rodriguez from proposing to Lopez. The magazine said Lopez is facing a setback on any wedding dreams because of his “dwindling fortune.”

The magazine also quoted an insider saying “Alex needs to get this mess figured out. He wants to go all-out with a knockout ‘yes’ ring that will cost him millions. And the nuptials will set him back another fortune, too.”

The former MLB player’s estimated net worth is believed to be around $300 million. Earlier this year, he and Lopez purchased a plush $15.3 million apartment in Manhattan, New York. If Rodriguez can afford such an expensive house, he can also afford an engagement ring.

TMZ recently reported that Rodriguez is battling Scurtis over the child and spousal support because he believes she was using his money on her new child and fiancé. It stated that he is especially vexed as his ex-wife is now a rich woman with millions in the bank and chooses not to work. Hence, the real issue is that he believes she is misusing his child and spousal support payments and not that he can’t afford to pay them.

Nevertheless, Gossip Cop checked up with Rodriguez’s representative, who dismissed the reports by calling them "nonsense."

In February this year, Gossip Cop had debunked another report in the magazine that falsely claimed Rodriguez and Lopez were having a wedding this summer. It stated that the former MLB star popped the question to his girlfriend on New Year’s Eve and the couple is planning a wedding in Italy. The report was inaccurate as the wedding did not happen.

Recently, Lopez gushed about her beau’s undying support for her and her career.

"It's been something beyond my wildest dreams to have a partner who is so supportive and loving and really, really loves what I do and doesn't try to squash me in anyway but tries to always raise me up. There's just something about having that type of love and support that makes you soar and that's what I think we try to be for each other and I just feel so lucky,” she told E! News.

The two started dating early 2017 and made their first red carpet appearance together at the Met Gala the same year.
