Princess Diana shocked the world when she appeared on BBC’s Panorama with Martin Bashir to talk about her marriage with Prince Charles, However, a report suggests she may have ruined her relationship with her eldest son Prince William in the process.

When Princess Diana gave her infamous interview in 1995, she revealed the details of Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. However, she did not give a heads up to 14-year-old William who was in boarding school at Eton College.

According to Katie Nicholl’s book “William and Harry,” the Duke of Cambridge became furious when he learned his mother shared secrets about their personal life with the world.

“He simply could not believe that his mother had invited the television cameras into the home he had grown up in and loved, to betray his father and their family in such a public way.”

Princess Diana’s friend Simone Simmons revealed the young Prince could not get past his fury towards his mother. “William was absolutely livid. The weekend after it went out they had a big row at Kensington Palace. William was furious and Diana was distraught,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nicholl’s revealed Prince William often defended his mother, however, he felt “she had gone too far” with the interview. “When William returned to Kensington Palace he refused to speak to his mother,” the author said.

In 1996, Prince Charles and Diana finalized their divorce. One year later, the Princess of Wales died in a car crash in Paris.
