Aaron Rodgers expects to continue to start the upcoming games for the Green Bay Packers despite struggling with a left knee injury.

The Packers quarterback picked up a knee injury in their opening game of the NFL season against the Chicago Bears. He went off in the first-half, but came back to inspire them to a comeback win.

The injury grew worse in the days after the first game and he was a doubt for Week 2 after missing training. However, after one practice session, Rodgers started the game against the Minnesota Vikings with a heavily strapped knee and helped his team to a 29-29 tie.

The quarterback admitted last week he was concerned about doing more damage to his knee by continuing to play, but was hoping it goes in the opposite direction and gets better sooner rather than later.

Rodgers again started the Packers’ third game of the season against the Washington Redskins, but was unable to stop them from losing 31-17 to record their first loss of the new season.

The quarterback took a few more hits Sunday night, but battled through the pain to his left knee and revealed after he expects to start again next Sunday when the Packers take on the Buffalo Bills. There were also concerns Rodgers had sustained a hamstring injury, but he dismissed it after the game making it clear there was no problem with his hamstrings.

“Nope,” Rodgers said during the post-game press conference when asked if his knee felt better. “I don’t know. I don’t remember. Hamstrings are fine.”

“I got a little banged up, but I finished the game, and I expect to start next week,” the Packers quarterback added.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy believes Rodgers will have to live with his left knee injury for a while as there was no immediate solution. But the 2010 Super Bowl champion is hoping it gets better at the earliest and also called on the team to get things back on track next weekend and get back to winning ways.

“I hope so, I really do,” Rodgers said. “It can be painful at times, moving around, especially lateral movement. I’m going to be out there if I’m up to it, and try to get this thing turned back in the right direction with a win next week.”

“They got a really good defense, I missed a couple of throws that I usually hit and we dropped a couple ones [that are] chances for big plays and that hurt us. We did not get lots going most of the game, so we got to give them credit but we left a lot of offense out there,” he added, talking about one of the reasons for the loss against the Redskins.

Rodgers finished the game completing 27 of his 44 passes for 265 yards, which also included two touchdowns and no interceptions.
