Things are getting messy between former "The Real Housewives of Orange County" star Meghan King Edmonds and her estranged husband, Jim.

After returning home from an evening out on Wednesday, Meghan was questioned by police on her ability to care for her three children, Aspen, 2, and 17-month-old twins Hayes and Hart. No big deal, except for the fact that it was Jim who decided to contact the authorities.

"Meghan came home from being out with friends and she had a couple glasses of wine," a source told Us Weekly of the incident. "It was the first time Jim stayed at her house and put the kids to sleep since he filed for divorce, so she met up with friends. She didn’t drive."

"She was washing her face when she heard someone knock around 10:30 p.m. An officer was there with Jim and told her Jim said he was worried she couldn’t care for [their] kids," the source continued.

After a brief interaction with the 35-year-old mother, the officer came to the conclusion that she was indeed capable of caring for her little one.

"Right now, my opinion is ie that you are fit enough to take care of your children tonight and that’s all that I’m concerned with," the officer said, according to an eye witness.

An insider went on to reveal that "Meghan was appalled" by the ex MLB player's actions and thinks he "was attempting to get back at her."

It is unclear why she felt he might want revenge, but the incident came just two days after Meghan dropped a bombshell interview, spilling all the details of their marriage in the process.

"I have endured prolific controlling by Jim," she said. "I’m sick of the abuse and I won’t engage anymore — and I don’t have to."

Meghan and Jim married on Oct. 24, 2014. Jim filed for divorce from the "RHOC" alum on Oct. 25, 2019, just one day after their five year anniversary.
