‘Riverdale’
Archie (K.J. Apa) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) will be seen in "Riverdale" Season 1 starting Jan. 26. The CW

“Riverdale” Season 1 is set to premiere on The CW on Jan. 26, but ahead of its release, there are already talks suggesting that Sabrina the Teenage Witch might make a cameo on the show.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that Sabrina was originally created to be part of the “Archie” franchise. The character, who was portrayed on television by Melissa Joan Hart, lives in Greendale, a town close to Riverdale.

“Some people don’t even know that Sabrina is in the Archie family. There is absolutely a universe where Sabrina pops up in Riverdale or one town over in Greendale. Certainly, the priority is launching ‘Riverdale’ and making sure that show is as a good as it can be and as embraced as we want it to be,” he said. The exec reiterated that seeing the character in “Riverdale” has a huge chance of happening, but when she will be introduced is the biggest question.

The new CW series will follow the lives of the characters inspired by “Archie.” However, the characters and storylines of the TV show are expected to be edgier. Archie will be played by K.J. Apa, Betty will be played by Lili Reinhart, while Veronica will be brought to life by Camila Mendes.

Meanwhile, executive producer Greg Berlanti is also very excited for the release of “Riverdale.” While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the EP said that the pilot episode will feature some shocking storylines. “Even in the pilot, we deal with some of those issues. There’s a gay character, a closeted character, a child on medication,” he said.

“Riverdale” also stars Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Ross Buttler as Reggie, Madchen Amick as Alice, Sarah Habel as Miss Grundy, Ashanti Bromfield as Melody and Nathalie Boltt as Penelope.
