‘Riverdale’
Betty (Lili Reinhart) will face a lot of challenges in “Riverdale” Season 2. The CW

“Riverdale” Season 2 star Lili Reinhart recently dished on what’s in store for her character, Betty Cooper.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Reinhart said that Betty’s worries will be at the center of the upcoming episodes. “This fall’s episodes are about her tortured soul. Her internal anxieties will surface,” she said.

Reinhart also said that Betty and Jughead Jones’ (Cole Sprouse) relationship will be similar to that of Romeo and Juliet. “Betty is on the north side and Jughead has to be on the south. The situation will really tug at the heartstrings,” she shared.

In the previous weeks, Reinhart and Sprouse hinted at their characters taking a darker path in the upcoming season. This won’t only be because of the distance that the two characters would have to endure. Jughead’s new life in the south side of town will bring him closer to a new character named Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan).

Betty, on the other hand, will continue her life in the north side of town with her friends, Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes). In the previous season, it was revealed that Betty has some bad habits. Whenever she gets really angry, she would hurt herself. Aside from this, she also has a tendency to get really upset with other people.

Meanwhile, Sprouse is hopeful that Betty and Jughead will work things out in “Riverdale” Season 2. “The relationship is really well received. I think the key is that it feels honest and real and both of those kids are going through an absolute whirlwind, in terms of the things that they’ve seen and done over the last season. So I think – I can hope that they just sort of work through whatever’s going to be thrown at them in a way that feels genuine and communicative,” he said.

Overall, he said “Riverdale” Season 2 will be darker and stranger than the first one. “Which is awesome because it means we’re going to be leaning into a lot of those qualities that a lot of people ended up loving in the first couple of episodes,” Sprouse told TV Line.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EDT.
