‘Riverdale’
Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will share plenty of screentime in “Riverdale” Season 2. The CW

“Riverdale” Season 2 is already on its way, and the cast of the hit CW series are already shooting the upcoming episodes in Canada.

But on Wednesday, “Riverdale” lead star KJ Apa found it a little difficult to practice lines with his co-star, Camila Mendes. In the video he posted on Instagram, Apa is in character as Archie Andrews as he reads his lines. But Mendes is busy tinkering with her phone instead of responding to Apa as her character, Veronica Lodge. Luckily for Apa and Mendes, “Riverdale” Season 2 won’t air until October, so there’s still plenty of time to shoot their scenes.

Meanwhile, “Riverdale” star Madelaine Petsch recently admitted that she had a hard time playing the character of Cheryl Blossom in the show. While speaking with Highsnobiety, Petsch said that she found it hard to relate to the fact that Cheryl has been living with her very abusive parents and tap into this feeling. “The parental abuse was very difficult to bring out. I came from a very supportive home, so to create this persona was very dark,” she said.

Petsch added that it was also very challenging to hard to act out grief over Cheryl’s brother, Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines), death. To make things worse, their dad, Clifford (Barclay Hope), was the one who killed him. “I lost a best friend a couple of years ago and that was kind of what I had to tap and think about on a daily basis. I always say actors are the people who try to feel everyone else’s suffering. I had to bring up some things that I didn’t really wanna think about, but it worked, right?” she said.

In other news, “Riverdale” Season 2 is expected to be darker than Season 1. Not only is Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) a member of the Southside Serpents, but Archie will also find out who shot his dad, Fred (Luke Perry). Additionally, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) will go in search for her MIA brother, and a fan theory suggests that he could be Kevin’s (Casey Cott) boyfriend, Joaquin (Rob Raco).

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
