'Riverdale's' Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart Breakup Likely Won't Last Long, Sources Say

“Riverdale” love team and real-life couple Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have reportedly broken up, but sources claim that the pause in the relationship will not last long.

The breakup comes a year after they reconciled and the pandemic was allegedly a factor in their decision. An E! News source said that things were good between Sprouse and Reinhart before production was halted but being isolated separately strained their relationship.

"When Cole and Lili are around each other often, things are very good. Their relationship is very intimate and affectionate, but things become much more complicated when they're apart," the insider added.

Another source claimed that proximity is important for the two, who reportedly knew that opting not to quarantine together would make it hard for their relationship to work. The insider added that Sprouse and Reinhart knew that their communication would be better if they see each other.

While news of Sprouse and Reinhart’s breakup only made the rounds recently, the couple reached their decision a month ago. As such, a source believes that they are taking a break rather than splitting.

"They know they will likely reconcile once filming resumes. Both aren't interested in dating other people, just using this time to chill and focus on themselves," the last insider added.

Another one echoed the claims and shared that Sprouse and Reinhart will likely rekindle their relationship once production for “Riverdale” resumes. The source pointed out that the pair “ have this fiery attraction,” which is touted as the reason that always brings them together.

Sprouse and Reinhart have yet to address the public about the matter.

The costars first sparked romance rumors in 2017 but remained mum on the real score. However, they did make it official when they graced the Met Gala together the following year.

Sprouse and Reinhart have played coy about their relationship in a bid to keep it private. Last summer, breakup rumors surrounding the two began swirling, but the pair publicly slammed the speculations in their W Magazine cover story where they told their fans not to believe “everything you read on the internet.”
