Rob Gronkowski future in the National Football League (NFL) remains uncertain with the New England Patriots unsure if they will have their tight end back for the new season. The player’s agent Drew Rosenhaus was also unaware of his client’s decision but revealed that he was healthy.

The 29-year-old remained coy with regard to his future all through last campaign and even after winning the Super Bowl, he did not confirm if he will play at least one more campaign before hanging up his helmet.

Gronkowski has won three Super Bowl titles with the Patriots and there were talks that he would retire prior to the 2018-19 season. But the tight end returned to play for the Patriots and played a key role in helping them beat the Los Angeles Rams at Super Bowl LIII earlier in the year.

Similar to 2018, there continues to remain doubts over his long-term future in the game with his agent Rosenhaus confirming that his client is yet to make a decision. Gronkowski played the Super Bowl carrying an injury but is said to be healthy now ahead of the official start of the league year on Wednesday.

"I talked to Rob last night," Rosenhaus said on ESPN’s “NFL Live Show”. "He won't even tell me. He said he hasn't made a decision yet. He is healthy, which I'm excited to say. He's feeling a lot better. He plays through an injury in the Super Bowl -- what else is new for that beast? He's so tough. The quad is healthy now.”

“Personally, I just want what's best for Rob. I said, 'Rob, take your time. Do what you believe in.' He's already the all-time greatest tight end. He's a first-ballot Hall of Famer. There's never been a tight end like this guy. The sky's the limit for him. If he comes back to play, fantastic. I honestly don't know. I'm waiting to see like everybody else," Rosenhaus said.

Meanwhile, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the longer Gronkowski takes to make the decision the better the chance he plays at least one more season in the NFL. He admits that it will be a surprise if he decides to continue as all indications were toward him hanging up his helmet after the 2018-19 campaign.

But with the player now healthy after playing the Super Bowl with an injury it is believed that he could run the pass for Tom Brady for at least one more campaign. It remains unclear when a decision will be forthcoming from one of NFL’s all-time great tight ends.

“I was told on Super Bowl Sunday that if he emerges from the Super Bowl healthy and he knows Brady is all in for another year, there’s a good chance he comes back, which is a surprise,” Florio told WEEI’s Mut & Callahan earlier this month. “It is a major shift from how he was thinking a year ago. But, he got through the year largely unscathed. He’s healthy. He’s feeling good. Maybe he’s thinking, and maybe Tom Brady has been working on him, maybe that Alex Guerrero book has got him something in his avocado ice cream that is making him love football a little bit more."

“It would be a surprise if he changes his mind and plays, but the longer this goes on — when he said after the Super Bowl he would make his decision in a week or two, that told me he would announce the decision he already made in a week or two and he’s retiring. Here we are a month later and he hasn’t announced a decision yet, maybe he is thinking about it a little bit longer than he did last year,” Florio added.
