  • The former "Hello Ross" host thanked fans for sending him kind messages about his health

Ross Mathews is showing off the results of his drastic weight loss months after he decided to "reclaim" his health.

On Sunday, the former "Hello Ross" host took to Instagram and Twitter and shared a photo of himself smiling as he posed in a black coat, jeans and brown boots. In the caption, Mathews revealed that he has lost 50 pounds since June.

"Breaking the pattern," he wrote. "50lbs down today from my height in early June when I decided to reclaim my health after my mom died (70lbs down from my all-time). I will always be a work in progress. I may mess up again. I dunno. All I know is that I’m very grateful. And very happy. On we go."

Mathews' post received warm and supportive messages from fans and fellow celebrities who expressed delight over the "Ru Paul’s Drag Race" judge's apparent happiness with his transformation.

"Your smile says it all. So glad you are healthy and happy. Sending you so much love," "Ru Paul’s Drag Race" star Nina West commented.

"You look great no matter but you appear so very happy and that’s what makes the light shine," Mrs. Kasha Davis, another alum of the reality competition show, wrote.

"Love you inside and out," TV host Cheryl Hickey wrote.

A number of netizens also showered him with praise, with some even asking Mathews to write a book about his weight loss journey.

"Congrats. You look phenomenal!!! I also hit my -50lb mark today, since June 28," one follower wrote.

"You need to do a weight loss book or something... so impressive," another commented along with clapping hands emoji.

Mathews later took to Instagram Story to thank fans for their kind messages of support. "Reading all your love on my post about my health. Thank you!" he wrote.

He has been focusing on his weight loss goal since the death of his mother in May, but he has been working on his health for years. Back in 2011, Mathews also lost 40 pounds.

"I went shopping, let me tell you how fun that was!" he gushed to E! News at the time about the experience of buying a medium-size jacket. "Just about everything's better--you feel better, you look better, s-e-x is better, everything's better! I know that sounds super cheesy, but I mean it."

At the time, the "Chelsea Lately" panelist also recalled how Chelsea Handler gave him the once-over when she noticed his weight loss.

"She looked at me and goes, 'You look good.' That's about as effusive as Chelsea gets with the compliments," Mathews joked. "But I'll take it. 'You look good.'"

Mathews clarified that Handler didn't shame him into losing the extra pounds. He credited his weight loss to Jenny Craig products.

"That's like, new-wardrobe, I-can-hike-to-the-top-of-a-hill, hallelujah, yay-me weight!" Mathews said of losing 26 inches off his waistline.
