Ryan Reynolds continues his advocacy against coronavirus pandemic as he partners up with Hayley Wickenheiser, a hockey legend, to support Canada’s Conquer COVID-19 group.

Reynolds took to Twitter and posted a shout out to Wickenheiser and the Conquer COVID-19, telling his followers how proud he was for the entire team.

Conquer COVID-19 is a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting healthcare workers by supplying them with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and supplies to treat patients.

How did the Conquer COVID-19 drive start? It was because of Wickenheiser’s appeal for help on Twitter to personally pick up donations of PPE. Reynolds, in response, did not only help spread the news, but he also pledged to send autographs, Deadpool bubblehead and movie souvenirs to those who would donate to the former hockey player, Toronto Sun reported.

An epitome of unity among the members of the community, Wickenheiser said that Conquer COVID-19 is composed of regular folks, led by Yusuf and Reza, both who are medical students.

Reynolds reportedly made a promise to the Conquer COVID-19 that he would take the entire out for dinner as soon as the pandemic ceases, the travel bans are lifted and he could travel back to Canada. Reynold was proud of Canada and its community uniting for a cause in such a huge way.

Conquer COVID-19’s call was heard many. One of those who listened and donated 21,000 masks for the frontline health workers was Huawei, Wickenheiser shared on her Twitter account.

On April 18, Conquer COVID-19’s will be hosting its first PPE drive in Calgary, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Reynolds previously emphasized the importance of PPE through his tweet. He said that the healthcare workers didn’t have enough supplies of it; hence, the call to unite and help the helpers.

Last month, Reynolds donated a sum of $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. He and his wife, Blake Lively, also donated a total of $400,000 to four hospitals in New York City. The latest charitable work of the couple amid the coronavirus pandemic was their donation to Ottawa Food Banks, ET Canada reported.

Ottawa Food Banks envisions a city free from hunger and amid the global health crisis pandemic, they showed their appreciation to the Reynolds for their support, through an Instagram post. Reynolds was from Ottawa and it holds a special place in his heart; hence, the donation as a way of giving back to the country, who according to Reynolds, gave them so much as well.
